Sarangan Lake

If you are bored with your activities, looking for alternative desinations that can refresh your mind and spirit is a good idea. You can try to go to Magetan, a district which is located on the border between Central Java and East Java. About 16 kilometers west of Magetan Town Square, you will find a tourism place that attracts thousands of visitors every years. It is Sarangan Lake, this tourist area is one of favourite place for holiday in Magetan City.

Sarangan is natural lake located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, with total area about 30 hectares and the average depth is 28 meters. Sarangan is located at an altitude about (1000 meters) above sea, the lavel has temperature about 18⁰ untill 23⁰ Celcius. Besides the coldness. You can find a beautiful view, as the combination of a calm lake and green mountains around Sarangan Lake. Range it gives use a peacefull feeling.

In Sarangan you can have fun activities. For those who like adventure, you can to the edge of the lake by walking or running in the pine forest on the slopes of the mountains arround the lake. If you do not like walking, you can ride a horse, you can rent with the price about Rp. 40.000 for one ride. Not owns walking arround the rim of the lake, but you can also use a speedboat, water tricyle, and paddle boats. If you are lucky, you can also see ‘Ritual Labuh Sesaji” or people know as “Larung Tumpeng”, that is held once a year. This ritual is a part of the traditional ceremony, held on Friday in mount “Ruwah”, of the nJavanese Calendar. Another fun activiting is eating Sate kelinci, it is special food in Sarangan. You can also try Wedang ronde, Pecel, Jagung Bakar, and various food as a complement. Now in sarangan there are any Stroberi garden, you can visiting it in Saturday and Sunday. If you want  stay for a long time, you can book a room in one of many hotels in Sarangan. Sarangan also has a big market for shopping, it provides souvenirs like handmade, shoes or jacket leather, bambo crafts, shirts, key crafts, painting, and special snacks, the famous snack from Magetan are ; Brem, Lempeng puli, Getuk, Rengginang, and many kinds of crispy chips likes ; Banana crispy, Potato crispy, and Tempe crispy.

Usually Sarangan Lake will be full of visitors in weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Many people from children to adults like visiting this place because it has confertable atmosphare and good location. Sarangan is a favourite place for holiday with family and friends.
